Air and travel services provider dnata has unveiled its ‘Station of Tomorrow’ at Orlando International Airport (MCO)

 

According to dnata, the MCO station sets a new benchmark for its operations in the United States, establishing a new standard for ground handling in the country. The investment includes:

 - Electric ground support equipment (GSE): dnata will operate a fully electric fleet of 14 GSEs, including cargo loaders, pushbacks, bag tugs, and belt loaders at MCO

 - Digital solutions: the investment includes passenger-friendly check-in and baggage kiosks, baggage drop points, and conveyor belt management systems

 - High-tech ground handling system: dnata will utilise a single, digital platform to streamline operations, managing all aspects of the ground handling process

 - Advanced telematics systems: these new systems will monitor real-time equipment usage and performance, enabling data-driven decision-making to reduce downtime and optimise operational efficiency

 - Virtual reality training: a virtual training solution will complement classroom learning to improve on-the-job skills

 - Resource management system: dnata will deploy a resource management system to optimise workforce and equipment allocation.

 - Vision AI: AI-powered tools will enhance monitoring capabilities, ensuring safety, accuracy, and operational oversight across baggage and ramp operations

 - Collision avoidance system: dnata will also implement an innovative collision avoidance system at MCO.

The project is expected to foster economic growth and deliver substantial benefits to local businesses and communities by strengthening the local aviation sector through this innovative airport offering. It will also generate 50 new, direct jobs with dnata in Orlando, with further expansion planned. dnata’s partners in this project include Lufthansa Group, Oshkosh AeroTech, Evitado Technologies.
