This agreement aims to enhance disaster response capabilities by providing the necessary space at Kansai International Airport and Osaka Itami Airport to deploy temporary medical facilities for aeromedical transport (Staging Care Unit/ SCU) in the event of major disasters in Japan. By setting up SCUs at the airports, it will be possible to conduct triage and treatment of patients near the aircraft and transport them to medical institutions outside the disaster area. This will enhance the medical relief system during disasters, especially for patients who cannot be easily transported to nearby medical facilities during large-scale disasters.
Kansai Airports Group will continue to prioritise safety and security in airport operations and work with related businesses to create a better environment, it said.
Vinci Airports and Orix Corporation are core members of the Kansai Airports consortium.
