Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) has deployed Oscar Sort, an AI recycling assistant from Intuitive AI

Oscar Sort uses advanced image recognition to analyse packaging in real time, providing travellers with instant disposal guidance. According to the airport, it will improve recycling accuracy, minimise contamination, and reduce costs associated with improper material sorting. Boston Logan has installed Oscar Sort in high-traffic areas across three terminals.

“Massport has been working hard on meeting our Net Zero goals by 2031, and the Oscar Sort AI Recycling Assistant is an important piece of that strategy,” said Rich Davey, Massport CEO. “Whether it’s helping passengers make the right choice when throwing something away, or bringing sustainable aviation fuel to the airport, sustainable technology is at the centre of everything we do.”

Beyond cost savings, Oscar Sort delivers valuable insights that will allow Massport to optimise material flow, allocate janitorial resources more effectively, and improve overall labour efficiency.

Boston Logan is taking a data-driven approach to improve passenger experience across the airport industry,” said Hassan Murad, CEO and co-founder of Intuitive AI. “With Oscar Sort, Massport is increasing operational efficiency, cutting costs, and making informed decisions backed by real-time data.”
