UK ATC provider NATS has appointed building and infrastructure company Tilbury Douglas, to deliver a staff support facility at its Prestwick base

NATS’ Prestwick Centre provides vital ATC services for airports across Scotland, as well as managing the UK’s upper airspace. Spanning 682m2 across three floors, the new facility will replace existing working facilities, and will feature a new medical centre, bedrooms for operational employees, and a state-of-the-art gym with changing rooms.

Paul Peers, GM, NATS Prestwick, said: “We are excited to work alongside Tilbury Douglas to bring this cutting-edge, sustainable facility to life. This new building will support our staff’s wellbeing while also contributing to our broader sustainability and social responsibility objectives. I am also pleased that the modular design of the new building will enable easy expansion based on our future business requirements.

”Designed with a focus on reducing carbon, the facility aligns with NATS’ environmental goals and contributes to Scottish Zero Waste objectives.

The project will be completed in two phases. Phase 1 will begin in February 2025 and focus on substructure works and installation of modular units, followed by Phase 2, which will involve the demolition of the existing Atlantic House building, creating opportunities to improve landscaping and enhance biodiversity on the site.
