VINCI Airports has completed extensive modernisation work on seven airports in Brazil’s Northern Region, enhancing infrastructure across the Amazon.
The improvements, part of a R$1.4 billion (£184 million) investment pledged when VINCI acquired the airports in 2021, were officially unveiled during a ceremony at Porto Velho Airport on November 28.
The upgraded airports include Manaus, Tefé, Tabatinga (all in Amazonas), Porto Velho (Rondônia), Boa Vista (Roraima), Rio Branco, and Cruzeiro do Sul (both in Acre). These projects focused on enhancing safety, accessibility, comfort, and operational efficiency.
VINCI Airports CEO in Brazil, Julio Ribas, said: “We have concluded this important phase with the commitment to transform these airports into safer, more efficient and more comfortable environments, meeting the growing demand of passengers.
“We will continue to invest and work to attract new flights, boosting local economic development and strengthening the Amazon’s connection with the rest of the country and the world.”
