Italian vertiport network operator UrbanV and Cluster2, an airport operator managing 22 airports across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, have joined forces

The partners will cooperate to support and build the advanced air mobility ecosystem in Cluster2’s airport network, in preparation for commercial operations in Saudi Arabia.

They will also conduct comprehensive feasibility studies to implement AAM solutions at airports managed by Cluster2, while ensuring compliance with the regulations of the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia, safety standards and environmental sustainability goals.

The partnership will capitalise on UrbanV’s expertise in AAM. The Italian firm will also deliver training programmes and technical knowledge, and cooperate with relevant parties.

Furthermore, the companies will launch initial pilot programmes for the introduction of eVTOL services for targeted applications such as medical emergencies, VIP transport, and cargo logistics. These programmes will act as proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate the operational integration of AAM in real-world conditions.

Both companies are committed to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and its broader sustainability goals, including the use of zero-emission eVTOL vehicles and environmentally sustainable vertiport design.

Carlo Tursi, CEO of UrbanV, said: “At UrbanV, we aim to improve people’s lives by enabling a fast, efficient, safe, and clean alternative to existing transport solutions for people and goods over short distances, by air. We have the ambition to become a major global operator of vertiport networks and we will be global pioneers in establishing some of the first AAM routes worldwide. We are excited to partner with Cluster2, a major player in the airport management space, and we look forward to exploring together with them the great potential of introducing advanced air mobility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

Tursi’s sentiments were echoed by Cluster2 Airports CEO Eng. Ali Masrahi, who said: “We are pleased to sign this partnership, as we seek in such partnerships to have a presence and leadership in finding solutions for AAM in addition to creating an integrated ecosystem for our various airports in the Kingdom, while emphasising the application of environmental sustainability in all our airports.”
