The Indra board of directors has approved the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of Micro Nav and Global ATS from UK-based Quadrant Group

The deal expands Indra's position in air traffic management (ATM) by enabling it to enter the training business segment and reinforcing its position in the UK, where it has been working for decades as a technology partner of air navigation service provider NATS. It also strengthens the company’s leadership in ATM systems in the Middle East, which accounts for 50% of Micro Nav’s sales.

Micro Nav specialises in simulation systems with the market leading civilian and military air traffic controller training. Its BEST (Beginning to End Simulation Training) system can adapt to the needs of each client, offering combined tower and radar training, and the great realism of the 3D scenarios and immersive experience it offers.

Global ATS provides controller training services to many of the UK’s general aviation, regional and international airports. It also has a growing international presence in the Middle East, Asia and the CIS countries (the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) consists of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan).

With these acquisitions, Indra has strengthened its position in a growing market that continues to expand as the number of passengers and airports grows, leading air traffic management companies to invest more in training services.

The investment also helps Indra towards the targets set out in its Leading the Future strategic plan, published last March. The move comes a year after it took over UK firm ParkAir, a leading supplier of air traffic radios. Indra also opted to grow inorganically in the US market, which recently resulted in a major FAA contract win.
