Ulf Nygren - Kiruna Airport Manager

Kiruna Airport, Swedavia’s most northern airport and an important hub for traveling to and from the north of Sweden, has appointed a new airport manager.

Ulf Nygren, who has a background in project management, will take up the new role in December 2024. He replaces Andreas Fredriksson, who left his position on 31 August this year.

"We are very happy to welcome Ulf to Swedavia and the aviation industry. His extensive expertise and experience will be a fantastic addition to Swedavia and Kiruna Airport. Together with Ulf, we will continue to develop regional connectivity and lead the transformation of the aviation industry," said Karin Öhrström, director of regional airports at Swedavia.

Nygren has a background in building and operating infrastructure in management and leadership roles, Swedavia said. His most recent position was at SSC Esrange Space Center, where he has been responsible for the center's infrastructure, hotel and restaurant and office management. Prior to his time at SSC, he worked within the Kiruna Municipality Group, including as project manager and administrative manager for the Environmental and Urban Development Administration.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to get to know both the employees and a whole new industry. Swedavia has an inspiring social mission, and the airport is very important for connectivity, development and competitiveness throughout this region. It is an honour to be entrusted with this position," said Nygren.
