SSP and Starbucks have expanded their travel retail partnership with the opening of their first airside store at Edinburgh Airport.
Located in the departures area, it is one of the largest retail offerings at the airport, providing takeaway service as well as 75 seats for passengers to relax before their flight.
SSP said the low-level seating and serving areas were designed to offer passengers clear visibility across the departures areas to flight information boards and boarding gates.
Cathy Granby, SSP UK & Ireland’s business development director, said: “Opening this new Starbucks store at Edinburgh Airport provides passengers with an elevated pre-departure experience from a leading brand.
“We have enjoyed great success with Starbucks at a number of UK travel hubs and I’m confident that we’ll do the same here in Edinburgh.”
The opening follows a number of other SSP-operated Starbucks that have recently undergone a transformation, including Leeds Bradford and Birmingham airports.
Gail Taylor, Edinburgh Airport’s chief commercial officer (non-aero), said: “There’s been a latte excitement around this new Starbucks, and we’re excited to see it open and start to serve customers and staff.
“We know having a well-known name and brand such as Starbucks continuing to serve people in the departures area at Edinburgh Airport will go down a treat with those travelling through.
“It’s been something our passengers have wanted to see, and it provides more options for them as they head through.”
The café is open daily between 04:00 and 22:00, increasing to 24/7 during the summer travel season from July to October.
