This is the first landmark event since VINCI Airports acquired a 29.99% stake in OMA. It is part of a five-year, €400m investment programme that will increase passenger capacity by 50% and reinforce Monterrey’s position as a major international hub.
This investment outlines OMA's commitment to modernising airport infrastructure in the region of Nuevo León, positioning it at the heart of national and international connectivity.
Improvements will include 70 new check-in desks, self-service and bag-drop facilities, 10,000m2 of commercial space, a more efficient security check for departing passengers, and an integrated baggage handling system. There will be two piers for additional seating areas and boarding gates, and new and expanded baggage reclaim areas serving both national and international flights.
Monterrey International Airport is the primary air hub in the northern region of Mexico, offering flights to 38 direct national and 22 international destinations, serviced by eight national and five international airlines.
VINCI Airports acquired its stake in OMA in 2022, since when it has invested more than €800m in the expansion and the renovation of the company’s 13 airports.
