Brazil’s CCR Aeroportos is investing R$270 million (£45m) in improvement works at Foz do Iguaçu International Airport (IGU), which are due to begin this September.
The work aims to increase operational safety, optimise capacity and provide a more comfortable environment for passengers.
The planned work includes three new aircraft aprons with capacity for 13 aircraft, renovation and expansion of the passenger terminal including new connectors for access to the boarding bridges, and work on the Runway End Safety Areas.
The improvements to the airport will be delivered by the end of 2024.
“Foz Airport connects Brazilians and tourists from all over the world to the Iguaçu Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. These interventions that will be carried out will further raise the standard of the airport and strengthen its role as an important element for the economic and tourist development of the region,” said the CEO of CCR Aeroportos, Fabio Russo.
