Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s ground handler, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), has commissioned a Materna IPS self-bag-drop (SBD) solution.
The airport, Malaysia’s busiest, chose the Materna IPS Flex.Go system. Six SBD units have been commissioned. The Materna IPS SBD systems provide passengers with an easy and quick way to drop off and insert their baggage into the baggage handling system. This self-service solution helps minimise waiting times and reduce queues at the counters.
The Flex.Go kiosks are equipped with an integrated camera system for automatic conveyability checks and tub detection. The shape and dimensions of baggage are measured and used for volume control and classification. The same camera solution can also help prevent inadmissible items from entering the airport’s baggage handling system, Materna IPS said.
