A recent job fair hosted by London Luton Airport (LLA) aimed to encourage students to consider a career in aviation.
Over 700 students from the University of Bedfordshire have had the chance to take a first step towards a career in aviation thanks to a collaboration between London Luton Airport, the university and the Department for Work and Pensions.
A job fair held at the Post Graduate Centre on the University’s Luton campus provided students and local job seekers with a forum to discuss a range of employment and placement opportunities with LLA, as well as employers across the airport, among them easyJet, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Lagardère Retail, TUI, Swissport and Wizz Air.
“As Luton’s largest employer, we can offer a range of career pathways to local young people. Our partnership with the University of Bedfordshire is just one example of the ways in which we engage with the surrounding community to highlight the many exciting and diverse career opportunities that are on offer on their doorstep, from engineering and IT to security, retail and airfield operations,” said Nik Jones, HR director at LLA.
London Luton Airport is one of the UK’s busiest airports, carrying 58 million passengers in the past five years. The airport is operated by a consortium of which the majority shareholder is AENA, the world’s largest airport operator, and AMP Capital, a specialist global infrastructure investment manager.
