American multinational engineering firm, AECOM is to provide programme management services at Hamad International Airport as part of the expansion programme for Cargo Terminal 2 and Amiri Flight Facilities.

The company will head project and construction management of the new terminal and ancillary supporting buildings that include a veterinary inspection centre, central utility plant and infrastructure diversions. A cargo bridging facility will also be created to accommodate predicted overflow from Cargo Terminal 1.

The Los Angleles-based firm is expected to provide the services over a six-year period, with the cargo bridging facility prioritised ahead of the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar in November 2022.
