UK-based Systems Interface is to install a new Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) system at Ireland West Airport Knock.
The Hampshire firm has been contracted by Principal Contractor Tiernan Engineering to supply, install and commission a replacement DME system with full remote control and monitoring and remote maintenance.
Systems Interface (SIL) will replace the existing end-of-life equipment with a Normarc Dual 100W Low Power DME, a replacement mast and antenna, as well as a new prefabricated fibreglass equipment shelter.
The installation and commissioning service for the new solution includes full project management and ground-based flight check support. The company will also provide the DME Safety Case to facilitate the approval of the new system by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).
SIL has more than 30 years’ experience installing safety critical land-based navigation systems at airports and en-route locations around the world.
