Swissport received the certification from Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) EMEA, constituting a significant milestone for its air cargo handling operations at Vienna International Airport (VIE) in Fischamend, according to the company.
Andreas Ottendorf, station manager for Vienna and Graz, said, “The TAPA certification not only validates Swissport Cargo Services’ adherence to industry-leading security protocols but also solidifies its position as a premier provider of freight services in Austria.”
Looking ahead, Swissport Cargo Services Austria is committed to further enhancing its security protocols. Plans are already underway to certify the whole site of Fischamend including all tenants for the TAPA FSR-A certification.
Swissport inaugurated the 8,000m2 air cargo warehouse in Fischamend in 2021. The new facility is connected with Swissport’s on-airport cargo centre at Vienna International Airport by a dedicated electric truck. This allowed Swissport to further expand its cargo activities and to grow its share in the business area of forwarder handling. In 2024, the company expects to handle 120,000 tonnes of cargo in Vienna.
