Frankfurt Airport is to deploy 87 biometric-enabled SITA TS6 kiosks, to improve both its own operational efficiency and the passenger experience.
SITA's TS6 check-in kiosks allow passengers to check in quickly and obtain bag tags for later self-bag drop services. The kiosks work in tandem with SITA Flex and offer passengers a unified user experience across multiple airlines, increasing ease of use and reducing physical touch points.
The new kiosk won the 2021 iF Design award for its slick, sustainable, and adaptive design, which can be customised to suit an airport's brand and customer needs. The modular design also means enhancements and modifications can be made without replacing the entire kiosk.
The deployment at Frankfurt Airport represents SITA’s largest implementation in Europe so far and will be completed later this year.
Dr. Pierre-Dominique Prümm, executive director aviation and infrastructure at airport operator Fraport, said: “Offering passengers innovative, safer and smarter ways to travel while also ensuring we have resilient and efficient airport operations is vital as our industry recovers from the impact of the pandemic.”
Sergio Colella, president for Europe at SITA, added: “Technology holds the keys to unlocking smarter and safer travel for all, recouping revenues lost during the past 18 months, and ensuring flexible operations that can adapt to the unforeseen circumstances of tomorrow. A more robust and sustainable air transport industry will benefit passengers, economies and jobs.”
