Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and airport retailer Kappé have reached an agreement in principle regarding an acquisition by Schiphol.
As of January 1, 2024, Schiphol will have a 100% stake in the company and will therefore have full ownership of this family business. With this acquisition, Schiphol is taking a next step towards renewing the airport's retail offering.
“Kappé has been one of our commercial partners at the airport since 1950 and is part of Schiphol's heritage. The perfume, cosmetics and sunglasses shops are an essential part of the retail offering at Schiphol. With this acquisition, we want to strengthen and update the stores so we can provide even better service to our passengers with an attractive range of products,” said Arthur Reijnhart, director commercial at Schiphol.
The acquisition is still subject to approval by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets and to the opinions of the works councils of both Kappé and Schiphol.
