As acting assistant director of aviation of San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK), Doug Mansel will be responsible for the aviation security, terminal services, airside operations, and parking and ground transportation departments at OAK.
“The promotion of Doug to acting assistant director of aviation is a well-deserved testament to his over two decades of dedication and service to the Port of Oakland and OAK,” said Craig Simon, director of aviation at the Port of Oakland. “I have full confidence in Doug’s leadership of the airport’s key operational departments in his new role.”
Mansel has been with the Port of Oakland since 2000, beginning in the Aviation Planning and Development Department as aviation planner. He was promoted to airside operations superintendent in 2006 and oversaw day-to-day operations of the airport, including the Airport Emergency Plan. Mansel has served as OAK’s aviation security manager since 2010. During his tenure, he was responsible for overseeing compliance with Transportation Security Agency (TSA) Regulations, the ID Badging Office, and contract law enforcement services.
