Joby Aviation has chosen Dayton International Airport as the site of its new production facility for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
Joby intends to make up to 500 aircraft per year at the Ohio location, supporting up to 2,000 jobs.
The 140-acre site has the potential to support growth in the future, providing enough land to build up to 2,000,000 sq ft of manufacturing space. Construction of the facility is due to start in 2024 and is expected to come online in 2025. Joby plans to use existing nearby buildings to begin operations in the meantime.

Joby’s aircraft is designed to transport a pilot and four passengers at speeds of up to 200mph, with a maximum range of 100 miles. The company plans to operate these aircraft as part of aerial taxi networks, starting as soon as 2025.
