New York airline JetBlue has launched a new, nonstop service between New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport and London Gatwick Airport.
The flights, which offer the only direct LGW to United States service – operate four times weekly in October, then daily from November onwards. The launch coincides with the long-awaited easing of US entry requirements for travellers from the UK and other European destinations.
“With a 500% increase in JetBlue’s UK bookings following news of the easing of US entry requirements for international travellers, it’s clear there is significant demand for travel between the two countries and that our Gatwick launch is well timed to meet the growing number of customers returning to the skies,” said Joanna Geraghty, JetBlue president and chief operating officer.
With JetBlue established at Heathrow since August, flights at Gatwick bring the airline’s London service in line with a multi-airport approach in New York, Los Angeles, South Florida, and other regions, where it can serve a wider range of travellers across large metropolitan areas.

JetBlue will operate from Gatwick’s North Terminal. The NYC-LGW route will be served by JetBlue’s new Airbus A321 Long Range (LR) aircraft with 24 redesigned Mint suites, 114 core seats and an Airspace cabin interior.
