Travellers can now use iCoupon vouchers at 7-Eleven vending machines at Copenhagen Airport (CPH)

Intelligent vouchering platform iCoupon has embarked on a collaboration with Copenhagen Airport and 7-Eleven Go which means its vouchers are now accepted at vending machines across the airport.

The initiative, currently live in 36 7-Eleven Go operated self-service kiosks and 12 7-Eleven stores, provides passengers with access to snacks and drinks at any time of the day or night, filling a crucial gap in service when shops and restaurants are closed outside of normal trading hours. The company aims to roll this out to all iCoupon-integrated airports.

For retailers and airports, this industry first offers new avenues for revenue generation, while airlines stand to benefit from being able to offer more options to passengers who might need food and drink – outside shop trading hours – in the event of delays or disruption.

The technology behind the new venture has been provided by software and hardware integration specialists Instant Systems.

Michael Clausen, director of airport sales at Copenhagen Airport, said: "We’re really excited to give our passengers more flexibility and choices at Copenhagen Airport with iCoupon at 7-Eleven Go. This is a new concept providing passengers with a wide selection of food and beverage in smart and convenient fridge vending machines 24/7 around the airport.

“The work with iCoupon has been a great experience. It has allowed us to make the passenger experience even better during disruptions, thanks to our esteemed partners at 7-Eleven. Being the first airport to do this, we hope others will see the benefits and follow our lead to improve the travel experience for our passengers.”
