The second phase of construction at the Leipzig/Halle Airport Technology Park was marked this week by its investor, Greenfield Development.
Georgi Handling will operate the site’s new handling hall for air cargo as a bonded warehouse with aviation security status, starting in 2023. All types of air freight consignments, from general cargo and hazardous goods to refrigerated and special goods, will be handled at the new location, which will have 15,000m2 of hall space and 1,500m2 of office and communal area. The additional infrastructure will allow Georgi Handling to unlock long-term organic growth at Leipzig Airport, the company said.
Working in partnership with DHL, Georgi Handling aims to expand its existing business model at Frankfurt Airport, too. This step will be made possible by direct links to current warehouses in Leipzig/Halle and Frankfurt and creates the ability to offer integrated logistics solutions along the entire supply and value chain.
Once the Leipzig/Halle buildings are complete, Georgi Handling will lease the entirety of construction phase two, Halls 6 and 7.
