Mario Kunovec-Varga, director general of Croatia Control, has been appointed chair of the COOPANS Alliance Board
Croatia Control (CCL) director general Mario Kunovec-Varga will serve as chair of the COOPANS Alliance Board for the next two years. He takes over from Philipp Piber, managing director of Austro Control, who had held the position since 2023.
Kunovec-Varga has 25 years of experience in aviation. Before becoming director general of CCL, he led the department of strategy, development and international relations at the Croatian ANSP.
“The modernisation of the air traffic management system remains the key priority for COOPANS, ensuring the Alliance is well equipped to meet the demands of an evolving aviation landscape.
“The collaboration fostered by COOPANS is key to shaping the future of aviation, overcoming challenges, addressing ATM complexities, and promoting both innovation and harmonisation. Aligned in our dedication to reaching these modernisation goals, I look forward to the productive cooperation with the Board,” said new COOPANS chair Mario Kunovec-Varga.
