Airport Drone Protection (ADP) has chosen Bicester Aerodrome as the official site for the annual Counter Drone (C-UAS) Live Demonstration Day

The Live Demonstration Day will cap off the ADP Conference, scheduled to take place at the Park Plaza Victoria in London from November 26 to 28.

ADP director Hector F Olono Martinez emphasised the meticulous planning behind the Live Demonstration. “From the entire investigation to site selection, we’ve engaged with regulators, law enforcement, military operators, and C-UAS companies to ensure that the demonstration aligns perfectly with the regulatory framework. We’ve reserved the entire airfield for the detection side of the demonstration and a second C-UAS testing exercises to be performed indoors in a hangar. We are also planning some dynamics during the demonstration to make things more interesting,” he said.

Martinez added: “Although there isn’t an official C-UAS certification in place, we are collaborating with organisations that work with regulators and military on testing and certification of equipment. C-UAS participants will have the opportunity to engage with them at the event. Although the process would take an extra week, they can get documentation to confirm that their equipment has been tested in the UK, which can serve as a significant credentials when engaging with potential clients, especially in the UK market”.

Usually, C-UAS companies go through this process when trying to enter UK market, in particular while dealing with law enforcement, military and even airports.

ADP has enlisted ex-Royal Airforce air and space operations specialist Stefan Crossland to oversee the flight and demonstration operations at Bicester. According to ADP, Crossland will use his experience with the Red Arrows to add a little flair to the demonstration as well as ensuring safety and compliance. He will coordinate with local authorities, emergency services, and regulators to establish contingency plans and issue a notice to airmen (NOTAM) to prevent air space conflicts during the event.

Attendees will include representatives of airports, civil aviation, air navigation, transport, and defence authorities, in addition to industry leaders. Attendees will gain valuable insights from real-life experiences, the latest technological advancements, and networking opportunities, including pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings with key industry players. Limited spaces are available.
