North Carolina’s Asheville Regional Airport has named its new chief operations officer
Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), the third-busiest commercial service airport in North Carolina, has named its new chief operations officer. Alexandra “Lexie” Farmer will take up the role ahead of the June 2024 retirement of Michael Reisman, the current COO at AVL. Farmer currently serves as the Airport Operations Director for Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT).
Farmer has more than 20 years of airport experience, having held positions at General Mitchell International Airport (MKE in Milwaukee, Wisconsin), Dane County Regional Airport (MSN in Madison, Wisconsin), and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL in Atlanta, Georgia).
Commenting on her new role, Farmer said: “I am so excited to join the Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority, and to be a part of the team that is working so hard to meet the demands of today while continuing to build for tomorrow. Asheville is growing, and I am eager to be part of planning for the airport of the future.”
Lew Bleiweis, president and CEO of the Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority, added: “Lexie rose to the top of a strong field of candidates from around the nation. Her passion for the airport industry, as well as her extensive experience leading complex operational initiatives at larger airports, will be a welcome addition to the senior management team at AVL. We Look forward to officially welcoming her in May.”
