Australian-native Borg has more than 30 years of experience in a range of senior and strategic financial roles. She will be based in Madrid, Spain and will join Amadeus from London-headquartered tech and security defence group QinetiQ, where she was also CFO.
Amadeus described Borg as ‘a proven expert at turning financial strategy and vision into action’ and someone who is ‘well-respected within the global financial community for her experience in managing complex organisations in international environments’. She has held senior finance roles in a variety of sectors throughout her extensive career, including energy, renewables, and defence. Borg also holds a non-executive board director and audit committee chair position in UK-listed Ricardo.
Prior to joining QiniteQ, where she was responsible for all finance and governance activities, Borg was chief financial officer at Lightsource bp Renewal Energy in the UK, a global market leader in the development, acquisition and long-term management of large-scale solar projects and smart energy solutions. She oversaw the maturation and transformation of the company’s finance and governance processes and capabilities which recently resulted in bp fully acquiring the organisation.
Luis Maroto, president and CEO of Amadeus, said of the appointment: “Carol’s wide breadth of industry and organisational experience as a Group CFO was a real attraction to us: her multi-decade career reflects a strong commitment to innovation throughout, and to delivering and enabling transformation and change for technology-focused multi-national organisations, often in complex financial environments. She will be a real asset to Amadeus, and I am looking forward to her getting started with us on May 5.”
Borg will report directly to Maroto. In addition to her role as CFO, she will sit on the company’s executive board.
