France’s Alstef Group will design, supply, install, test, and commission the new baggage handling system (BHS) at Gwalior Airport in Madhya Pradesh, India.
The contract was awarded by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), and the project is scheduled for completion in 2023.
The outbound system will consist of 16 check-in counters, a Level 1 CT-EDS XRAY machine, and a make-up carousel, while the arrivals system will feature three new inclined carousels designed for high-capacity bag retrieval. Alstef Group will collaborate with ISAT (Batelle) to ensure compliance with the highest industry standards. Upon completion, Alstef Group will be engaged for a 13-year operation and maintenance contract to ensure system reliability.
Alstef Group designs, integrates, and supports automated turnkey solutions for the airport, intralogistics and parcel markets.
The new BHS is part of a terminal expansion being undertaken by operator AAI at Gwalior Airport, which is also known as Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Airport. Once complete, this will enable the airport to increase its passenger handling capacity from 350 to 1,400 per hour.
