Alstef Group is to be part of the ground-breaking €3bn upgrade at Brisbane Airport, which is set to be completed by 2032.
The initial phase of the project will focus on the domestic terminal, with new enhancements expected to be fully operational by the end of 2025.
Alstef Group will embark on a substantial overhaul of the current domestic terminal baggage handling system, encompassing automated sortation and a comprehensive upgrade of the inline checked bag security screening to meet the latest global standards.
Gert-Jan de Graff, CEO of Brisbane Airport, emphasised that this transition marks a significant improvement for both travellers and the staff working within the baggage areas.
“Currently our baggage system consists of three different systems and they're not talking to each other. We're building a new system that works for all airlines in the same way for check-in as well as reclaim of baggage. This unified baggage system represents a crucial step towards enhancing the overall travel experience at Brisbane Airport,” he said.
To facilitate the complex planning, the project schedule has been meticulously divided into nearly a hundred distinct phases.
