Alstef Group has launched XSORT, the first cross-belt sorter specifically designed for baggage handling

Unlike conventional systems adapted from parcel sorting, XSORT has been engineered to optimise performance for the specific size, weight, and handling needs of baggage, resulting in a compact and adaptable sorter that delivers maximum operational efficiency, Alstef said.

XSORT is eco-engineered with energy-efficient technologies and sustainable materials integrated at every stage of design. This ensures compliance with global green standards and prioritises long-term environmental benefits.

With a low height and a minimised footprint, XSORT has been designed to work in airports where space efficiency is crucial. With 5° and 11° incline options, it is highly adaptable, fitting seamlessly into any airport’s new or existing infrastructure.

XSORT incorporates low-maintenance technologies such as synchronous linear motor drives, inductive power transfer, and very short-range Wi-Fi communication. According to Alstef, these features reduce mechanical wear and tear, enabling smoother operation and reducing maintenance requirements.

The system is equipped with native predictive maintenance capabilities, providing real-time monitoring and diagnostics that minimise downtime and extend equipment life.

“XSORT is a true Alstef innovation,” said Nicolas Breton, president and CEO of Alstef Group. "We developed it specifically for baggage handling with sustainability at the forefront, ensuring that every component is purposefully chosen to deliver high performance while minimising environmental impact."
