In collaboration with travel retailer Avolta, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has opened Salon, two new catering concepts in the Dutch hub’s Lounge 1

Inspired by Amsterdam's canals and terraces, Salon consists of Grand Café and Deli, and offers more than 300 seats.

“Over the coming years, Schiphol will continue to open new restaurants that improve the quality and diversity of our offering. Salon is a worthy replacement for Grand Café ‘t Paleis [the previous F&B offering at the location] and I am sure it will become just as popular among our travellers. You still have a fantastic view of the planes here, but the flow to border control has been greatly improved at this new location,” said Tim de Bie, senior manager commercial terminal services, Royal Schiphol Group

The redevelopment of Lounge 1

The opening of Salon is part of a large-scale redevelopment of Lounge 1. Travellers flying within Europe end up in this lounge after the security check. The lounge will increase from 19,000 to 24,000m2, with the renovation providing more walking and sitting space. The airport is also expanding the range of shops and catering establishments with 23 new concepts.  At Deli, travellers will be able to enjoy Dutch delicacies from local suppliers. Grand Café is a full-service restaurant.
